The Seventh Edition of Anthology Architecture Festival

The seventh edition of Anthology Architecture Festival, which will be held in Intramuros on Oct. 2 to 4, will ask designers and creatives to reframe their idea of good architecture.

The festival “is a declaration we want to build … that we should also measure social impact,” William Ti Jr., the festival curator and founder of WTA Architecture and Design Studio, at a media briefing held at Kuysen Design and Experience Center in Makati on Sept. 8.

He noted that the industry often measured projects against parameters like cost-effectiveness and economic impact while missing their social benefit, leading to unsustainable and disconnected communities.

Anthology Festival has served as a platform to bring together various practitioners and stakeholders to increase awareness about the relevance of architecture and design in urban societies.

Going ASEAN-wide this 2026, with the theme, “Shared Ground: Architecture of Care, Culture and Collective Futures,” the “declaration” will be joined by practitioners in architecture and design from Southeast Asia.

This year’s edition will feature installations, conversations, fora, interactive exhibits and competitions, among others.

The briefing featured a sneak peek of the conversations that will occur during the festival through a panel featuring Benjee Mendoza of BAAD Studio, Bong Recio of RCHITECTS Inc., AJ Javier of Javier Design Studio Manila and Rebecca Plaza Ti of WTA Architecture and Design Studio. Paulo Alcazaren of PGAA Creative Design also joined from the audience.

They emphasized the importance of care, malasakit in Filipino, in building projects that transform communities, and the richness of Filipino and ASEAN in resources to confront the issues that confront societies today.
